South Wilson, a part of Wilson, Wyoming, is located in Teton County in the northwest part of the state, not far from Jackson. The town of around 1,400 residents is named after Elijah Nicholas Wilson, a former Pony Express rider and an author who first settled here in 1889. Wilson’s shopping highlights include Hungry Jack's General Store, where you'll find almost everything you could possibly need from cake frosting to hay, combined with a dose of history, and Aspens Market, the local butcher, grocer and deli.

Local favorite restaurants include Roadhouse Q and the Stagecoach Grill for American cuisine, Sudachi for sushi and Calico for classic Italian fare. Many more dining options exist in nearby Jackson and Teton Village.

Parks and Recreation

The district has an enrollment of 2,378 students and boasts a graduation rate of nearly 93%. For post-secondary education, there is a branch of the University of Wyoming in Jackson.

Wilson Medical Clinic in Wilson provides a variety of health care services to South Wilson residents and visitors, including family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, sports medicine and orthopedics. For more serious conditions, St. John's Medical Center in Jackson offers a 108-bed, inpatient hospital, an extended care facility, a birth and delivery department, emergency medicine and an ICU unit.

Wilson's small size makes it easy to get around town. The town is connected via the Teton Pass Highway and SR 89 to Jackson and points north and south of there. For longer trips, South Wilson is just a 30 minute drive from Jackson Hole Airport. This 533-acre facility, located within Grand Teton National Park, offers daily non-stop service to Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City and Atlanta and serves around 30,000 passengers each year. The approach to Jackson Hole Airport has been ranked one of the most beautiful in the United States.
